About me
Hi, I'm Kim.

"As an editor, Kim is a freelance writer's dream. She communicated clearly, was helpful and supportive not only at the beginning of an assignment but all the way through, and took a collaborative approach to every project. And on top of all that, she threw out great ideas and offered nothing but useful queries and edits that made the work better. Any writer would be lucky to work with her!"
—Alexander Gelfand, writer
I’m a writer and editor with more than two decades of experience in newspapers, magazines, and higher-education communications.
For the past 12 years, I worked for Berklee College of Music. The last half of that time, I ran its alumni magazine, overseeing every stage of the project from story ideation to publication. As an editor, I enjoy untangling grammatical knots, solidifying arguments, tightening transitions, and generally making stories shine. Before running the magazine, I wrote for the college. There aren't many jobs in which you might interview Harry Belafonte one week and attend a Charlie Puth concert the next.
I also relaunched Berklee's podcast, bringing production from a few times a year to once a week.
I came to higher ed after a decade as a reporter and editor for magazines and newspapers in the U.S. and abroad. I’ve written thousands of articles—news stories, explainers, profiles, breaking news, features—covering a wide range of topics: court cases, international politics, community events, social issues, and more. My work has been in the Boston Globe, The Prague Post, and more. During these years, I also freelanced for the Associated Press.
These days, I enjoy taking all the skills I've distilled from my adventures in writing, editing, podcasting, and more and pouring them into my next project (maybe with you!).
When I'm not doing the above, you might find me on the ski slopes in New England, dancing tango in Greater Boston, or reading an Italian novel for a book club I organize.
